Students started their December writing assessment today. I am excited to see how they have improved since October.
Today was elf day for the 12 days of Christmas. I hid 6 elves behind sight words. Students had to say the sight word and if they got it right they got to check for elves.
We listened to this week’s story and then discussed it.
During small groups we read the story “The Elves and the Shoemaker.” Then we discussed the different parts to the story.
We finished our trip to Sweden today. I read the story “The Tomten,” which is another name for Nisse. He visits kids to bring them gifts, and kids leave out a bowl of porridge for him. If they don’t leave it out then he plays a trick on them!
Then we traveled to Germany. We learned about all different kinds of traditions that started in Germany. They include Christmas Trees, Advent Calendars, and Gingerbread Cookies. The students then started a letter to Christkindl about what they want for Christmas. They munched on a gingersnap cookie while writing the letter.
- We took our Chapter 4 math test today.
