Our schedule was different than normal today so the students had to show their flexibility. With the fourth grade program rehearsal today, we had to change our morning around. We started the day off by going to PE first thing.
After PE we started math. Our math journal entry today was finding the difference. The students were able to use their subtraction strategies that they learned yesterday to help them. We weren’t able to do stations today, but the students still did their independent work.
With such a big school the students unfortunately don’t get to go to all of the music programs. We were lucky enough to get to go to the first one of the year. Mrs. Whis does such a fantastic job with the programs.
After the program we listened to the story Ghost’s Dinner. It’s about a group of ghosts eating dinner that change colors based on the food they eat. We then brainstormed ideas of what the ghosts could eat for dinner. I loved the creative ideas the kids came up with!
Our comprehension skill this week is cause and effect. We watched a Brainpop Jr. about cause and effect and then discussed different cause and effect situations.
We continued our work with initial blends and cause/effect in our reading small groups.
Students did a short and long vowel sort for phonics. I would like him to remember that the magic e tells the vowel to say it’s name.
During grammar the students did a write the room activity with common and proper nouns. Proper nouns name specific people, places, things, and animals. They are always capitalized.
