Trying new Technology

We worked on writing number sentences from math stories. First we made an anchor chart to discuss the different words you hear in addition math stories. Then I showed the students three different strategies to use to solve math problems.IMG_6862

After that we solved a math problem to practice the three strategies.

I went to a training yesterday about the IPad App, Book Creator. I wanted to figure out a way to use it in the classroom. I had already planned on the students making a class book with their own math stories in it. After they made their book page I helped them create it on the ipad. For whole group reading, we talked about main idea and details.

For reading small groups, we continued our practice with main idea and details. We read a story about Red Foxes and then found the main idea and details.

During grammar, the students traveled around the room unscrambling sentences. I was looking for students to write complete sentences. I gave out tickets to students who wrote complete sentences.

*** Tomorrow is family groups. Students can wear green. We will be learning about responsibility.
